Co-operation in The Improvement of Service Quality

As one of the efforts to continually boost competence, professionalism and service quality, Surabaya Hajj General Hospital has managed to build co-operation and develop network with hospitals, health care providers and other health-related institutions.

The co-operation and network are devised as a medium to exchange information on medical science and practices, to prepare for the growing demand as well as to anticipate challenge and opportunity in the days to come.

A number of institutions that have built co-operation with Surabaya Hajj General Hospital include the followings: RSU Dr. Soetomo Surabaya, Universitas Airlangga Surabaya, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November Surabaya (ITS), Universitas Hang Tuah Surabaya, Jakarta-based Yayasan Indonesia Sehat (Healthy Indonesia Foundation) in the Programme of Problem Solving for Better Health (PSBH) and many other institutions.

Co-operation in Health Care Service

Surabaya Hajj General Hospital also offers health care services to employees in private/local government/state-owned companies, as well as policyholders in state and private insurance agencies.

A number of private companies, local government institution, state company and insurance agent have co-operated with Surabaya Hajj General Hospital in the health care services provisions.

Medical Team

Up to the end of 2004, Surabaya Hajj General Hospital maintains 47 specialist doctors, 20 general practitioners, 8 dentists, 4 specialist dentists, 250 paramedics and 96 non-nursing paramedics. The figures may change depending on growing customer's needs and on our endeavour to constantly improve service capability.

Doctors and nurses in all departments and at all levels are required to enhance their skills and knowledge in their respective fields in accordance with the development of medical sciences, technology and practices. To that end, Surabaya Hajj General Hospital strongly encourages and facilitates sustainable knowledge-updating and skill-improvement programs, both within and outside the hospital.

A Bout US

Surabaya Hajj General Hospital was established in 1990 on the initiative of and funds from the Provincial Government of East Java. Grant from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was also obtained. The "Hajj Hospital" is named after the historic incident of Indonesian Hajj pilgrimage in 1990. Nevertheless, Surabaya Hajj General Hospital is open for public and is providing services for all.

Surabaya Hajj General Hospital occupies 22.205 m2 width building in an area of 24.000 m2 in the eastern Surabaya. Starting its endeavour as a Non-Educational C Class Hospital, Surabaya Hajj General Hospital had become a Non-Educational B Class Hospital within 5 years. In 2004, Surabaya Hajj General Hospital was then classified as a General Service Institution, or Badan Layanan Umum. Today, it has a full capacity to provide a wide range of healthcare services spearheaded by qualified human resources, modern medical devices and comprehensive facilities.

By the end of 2004, Surabaya Hajj General Hospital has a total of 227 in-patient beds. The wards are classified into VVIP, VIP A and B, Primary (Utama) 1 and 2, as well as Class (Kelas) 1, 2 and 3. The 24-hour Emergency Unit is staffed with experienced doctors and nurses. Specialist doctors are readily available to handle 22 Specialist Polyclinics that include Dental, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Cardiology and Medical Rehabilitation.

The 5 Specific Services cover Holistic Medical and Spiritual Service (Religious Counselling), Hajj Health Centre, Dermatology, Specialist Dental Polyclinic and Acupuncture. Surgery Services comprise General Surgery, Orthopaedic, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Obstetric and Gynaecology, Urology, Digestive as well as Dermatology and Plastic Surgery.

The advanced medical equipments include Endoscope, Bronchoscope, Electrocardiogram (ECG), Echocardiography, Electro Encephalography (EEG), CT Scan and Brain Mapping. Other supporting facilities consist of Intensive Care Unit, Radiology, Rehabilitation Centre, Laboratory, Anatomy Pathology and Nutrition.
